Win Tickets to Asbury Park Comic-Con 2!

On Saturday, September 29th historic Asbury Park, NJ will host an insanely amazing comic con in the newly remodeled Asbury Lanes bowling alley/rock club. Independent and self-published creators will gather to share and inspire, and fans will be treated to a bazaar of collectibles, prints, and promos throughout the day. Guests include:  The Kubert School, Jack Kirby Museum, Larry Hama, Top Shelf Comix, Deadhorse , Evan Dorkin, and more.  And you can a friend can get in for FREE!

By donating a dollar (or more!) to the HERO INITIATIVE you can enter to win a pair of tickets to what will be one of your most memorable convention experiences.  Why Hero Initiative? Because the Hero creates a financial safety net for yesterdays’ creators who may need emergency medical aid, financial support for essentials of life, and an avenue back into paying work. It’s a chance for all of us to give back something to the people who have given us so much enjoyment.

Did we mention Asbury Lanes is located one block from the boardwalk which features Shepard Fairey murals, restaurants, bars, shops, & galleries, and is not far from the Silverball Pinball Museum?
To Donate to Hero Initiative:  Call The Comic Book Shop at 302.477.1119   OR   come see us in person! 1855 Marsh Rd, Wilmington, DE 19810.

See you in Asbury Park!

ThINK Illustration! Connelly Sisters Signing on July 18th

We met Paige and Claire at the awesomest comic-con ever: Asbury Park Comic Con. Their table stood out from the others because, hey, they’re twin-like sisters and had all handmade wares. They design and make expressive, thoughtful, and often creepy little comics, each held together with twine or tape, in their college dorm room.

On Wednesday, July 18th the drawing duo will travel from their Jersey home to sketch, sign, and speak about their art and comics. You can pick up samples of what they’ll bring at our Local Creators display at the front of our shop. For a broader view of their works check Claire’s Tumblr and Paige’s Tumblr.
